I find myself wading through mountains of cookbooks, blogs and Instagram accounts searching for the best way to feed my son as I long for the flavoured bottled purées of my youth. There is no end to advice, it seems, but no one right approach to take and I’ve limited culinary talent.

In the early months of my pregnancy, hunger was my constant companion. I was insatiable. Filled with lust for any and every carb.
