Pancake Tuesday only comes around once a year, so you might as well do it properly. From fluffy stacks to seriously decadent creations, Team IMAGE shares their top cafes and restaurants serving up the very best pancakes in Dublin.

Helen Conway, Event Manager

Blas Cafe, tucked away in the Chocolate Factory on Parnell Street, is one of my favourite places in Dublin to go for breakfast with pals, or to chill solo with a coffee and a book. My go-to order will forever be their pancakes.

They are fluffy without being too stodgy, topped with Greek yoghurt, berry compote and their signature homemade granola. For Pancake Tuesday, they have several pancake specials on the menu – sweet and savoury – and they all look absolutely divine.

As someone who has many food intolerances, Pancake Tuesday was always a bit of a bummer. However, this is now thankfully an experience of the past because Póg offers delicious gluten-free and vegan pancakes with heaps of topping options. I usually go for a classic maple syrup with bananas and strawberries, but last time I also treated myself to some vegan dark chocolate chips, which they layer in between the pancakes, so they melt. It is literal heaven!

If you’re in the city and looking for sweet pancakes, head to the beautiful Cantina Valentina at the Hoxton at breakfast time and order their fluffy American-style buttermilk pancakes, served with candied banana, dulce de leche and cancha. Adding a side of their crispy rashers is essential too.

If you’re in the heart of the city and craving something sweet, you need to stop by Bewley’s Grafton Street Cafe. They are serving up some absolutely gorgeous, fluffy pancakes at the moment. Perfection.

Located in Portobello, Alma’s Dulce De Leche pancakes are simply exquisite and utterly morish. Finished with baked nectarines in lavender syrup, whipped mascarpone, dulce de leche, flaked almonds and seasonal berries, you will be thinking about these pancakes for months, and I know this because they are genuinely all I can think about.

Being vegan, I never like to put anyone out by going to exclusively veggie cafes. That is why Tang in Dublin’s city centre is the perfect brunch spot. They make the most incredible pancakes with a vegan alternative available. Served with coconut yoghurt, fresh berry coulis and delicious house nut butter, I promise you will not be disappointed!
