Vogue Williams on where she shops for playful lighting

IMAGE.ie interiors columnist Vogue Williams shares where she looks to for colourful, eccentric lighting, from Irish creators to Soho House dupes.

Lighting can change everything about a room, it can make a cold dark space warm and cosy so it’s essential to get it done right. I adore the lighting in my place in Howth, I got it all done with Ventura designs and I feel like they are a real feature of the house.

I think you need to have so many different light sources in a room to make it feel cosy. You have your overhead lights, lamps, wall lights and floor-standing lamps for that snug feel.

I also think sourcing lighting and getting the right pieces is really difficult, lighting and coffee tables take me forever to decide upon for some reason. It might seem a little strange that I am now writing a column on lighting when it’s something I find so hard to source but I have since gone into a lighting rabbit hole!

It all started with Curiousa. I spotted them on Instagram and I think they are such an unusual brand. The Candy Coloured collection is stunning and would bring a fun element to a room.

This Sputnik chandelier from Wayfair is pretty out there but I think it looks so cool, it’s a show stopper in your home for sure.

Pooky Lights have every kind of light sources you might need and are reasonable enough on the pricing front. I love the bright colourful ones and I have bought some wall lamps from them and was impressed with the quality. I spent much of my lighting rabbit hole on this site.

Buster and Punch are known for their industrial style, I love the masculinity of this chandelier. I would go for the brass finish and you will have Soho House vibes in your kitchen.

I am holding back on buying this Bryan O’Sullivan piece of lighting until my birthday, it’s very important to buy yourself a present and this will be mine. I have spoken about the Boss boys on my page before, I adore everything they do. I have three of their lamps and one floor lamp and now this piece for above my kitchen table is next!

Mullan Lighting is an Irish brand I found online, they have tonnes of options for great lighting. This pendant light and wall light are two of my favourite pieces of theirs.
