The Little Green Spoon’s Indy Power puts her Blackrock home on the market for €725,000

Bought by the Little Green Spoon food blogger in 2018 and completely modernised, this end-of-terrace Blackrock cottage is now full of light.

When Indy Power and her husband Tom Parsons first bought the house in March 2018, it was in need of total renovation. Working with architecture firm Studio 3, they expanded the floorplan of this cottage from a meagre 40 square metres to just over 100. Fully insulated with a B3 BER rating and under-floor heating throughout, it now makes for a beautiful and comfortable two-bedroom home.

On the market for €725,000, the front door and garden are privatised by a high fence and hedging, providing a secluded alfresco dining area as well as ample parking. Inside, this home is spread neatly across one floor. Off the front hallway is the main bathroom as well as two sizable bedrooms, one with its own moody ensuite and the other with a box bay window.

The hall leads into a comfortable living space with a wood-burning stove, bright and airy thanks to the vaulted ceiling and large glass sliding Aluclad doors that open onto a small rear courtyard. The terrace is south-west facing and is not at all overlooked, backing onto another garden on one side and Rockfield Park on the other, making for a quiet, relaxed space.

However, as Indy is a food blogger and cookbook writer, the kitchen is understandably the centre of this home. A lot of thought has been poured into this vaulted space, between the kitchen layout (designed by Rhatigan & Hick), the equipment – including a Smeg three-oven range – to the natural light that pours into every part of the kitchen thanks to the overhead roof lights.

A pantry and utility are located just off the kitchen to store ingredients and the quartz countertops and island unit help to bounce light around the room. A comfortable dining table sits looking out onto the manicured courtyard, which can also be accessed from here through a wall of glass doors.
