Nostalgia alert: Disney reveals first full-length trailer for The Lion King

Disney in 2019 isn’t the Disney that many of us remember growing up; since Disney closed their traditional animation studios and 3-D and live-action has become the go-to, many would argue that at least some of the modern offerings just don’t feel the same as the classics. That is until this particular full-length trailer premiered.

The excitement was palpable when it emerged that there would be a computer-generated remake of the beloved The Lion King. Directed by Jon Favreau, who was behind the amazing 2016 remake of The Jungle Book with a truly impressive cast, the first few notes of the music in the teaser will take fans who are old enough to know straight down memory lane.

Even hearing elements of the soundtrack is enough to take me right back to being seven-years-old in the cinema with my dad and sister in tow.

The re-invigorated movie follows the same plot of the Oscar-winning 1994 animation about lion cub Simba, who flees his kingdom after his villainous uncle Scar schemes to take his father Mufasa’s place as king.

The voice cast alone is enough to get people talking; including Beyonce and actors Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen and happily, James Earl Jones – those who experienced the magic in 1994 will instantly recognise him as the same actor who voiced Mufasa in the original.

Watch the full trailer below, and start counting the days until the film’s July release:
