Dublin Culture Night

Culture Night always seems to come out of the blue, and you always find yourself disorganized and disorientated by the sheer volume and furthermore, quality of the stuff. Here's our quick and easy guide to event-hopping through the night?

  • Meeting House Square - This is really the heart-centre of culture night in Dublin and it will be buzzing with activities from all disciplines. The performance side of things will be covered by heavy-weights such as The Nualas, Louis Lovett, Rough Magic, and the enigmatic Camille O?Sullivan who will be performing an extract from the RSC's The Rape of Lucrece. The music side of things is also taken care of with a certain style, with O Emperor, Tempre-mental MissElayneous and the wonderous Julie Feeney.
  • Flamenco on the Move - Dublin School of Flamenco will be heating things up a trifle on the Luas Red Line tomorrow evening, as they take their sensual and rhythmic moves to the Luas, where they will be performing up and down the red-line for passengers. If only they were there every dreary Monday morning.
  • The Civic Trust ? This is a building that once pointed out to us has fascinated us. Situated near the Lord Edward Pub, it is one of the best preserved buildings in Dublin that was saved from demolition in 1996. It will open its doors to show off its merchants shop and accommodation.
  • Granby Park - This pop-up gem will be a hubbub of activity as it is set to close shortly. In its short time it has become a much-adored hub in the midst the city, transporting one far from the bustle. There will be everything from skill shares to music, from screenings to talks. Keep your ear to the ground
  • Arts Council - Will open its doors and display new work by the photographer Richard Moss, our representative at this year's Venice Biennale. A rare delight, not to be missed.
