WATCH: This hilarious video epitomises the challenges of video calls with older parents

In need of a laugh? This sketch by comedy trio Foils Arms & Hog depicting a video call with parents during lockdown is sure to make you chuckle

Video calling is having a moment.

During this pandemic, the art of video has become a vital form of communication. Many of us can’t see our loved ones in person, so apps are the only way to do it.

However, it isn’t without limitations or clumsy moments.

Anyone who has video called their parents will know the experience is full of comedic moments. Comedy trio Foil Arms & Hog have captured these junctures brilliantly in a new sketch they uploaded on YouTube over the weekend.

From the parents “self-isolating from each other” to “will you tell me how to send a meme?”, the sketch is a well-observed reflection of the complexities of mixing your parents and technology.

The video is currently trending in Ireland, with many commenters identifying with the trials and tribulations of lockdown communication.

One viewer wrote: “Your father has some shirts I’d like you to try on before they go to charity. I FELT THAT.”

While another said: “I identified so much with the last bit. Never before have I suddenly become so sought-after by my parents for random tasks — normally to do with technology.”

In times like these, we all need a laugh and a reason to smile and this video is most certainly doing that.
