What to wear with cropped blazers

What to wear with cropped blazers

Has anyone noticed, trends are increasingly beginning to originate on Instagram and make their way on to the runway after the fact?

Case in point: the cropped blazer — an outfit element that has been doing the rounds on the platform quicker than an emoji-touting spam bot. At this stage, I’ve already lost count at how many shrunken and slashed jackets I’ve ‘double tapped’ as of late — when lo and behold, the garment seemed to pop up on countless runways at New York Fashion Week.

It’s certainly a sign of the times, and proves how much the platform has become an incubator for fashion moments.

The city’s coolest designers — think Eckhaus Latta, Alejandra Alonso Rojas and Christopher John Rogers — all took their scissors to the omnipresent oversized, boxy blazers we’ve been seeing and declared that midriff-baring versions are in for the foreseeable future.

So, how to wear it? Perhaps with a nonchalant half-zip fleece underneath, paired with high-waist, slim-fit denim as proposed by Swedish influencer Matilda Jerf.

Or maybe go all out with a two-piece co-ord in pin stripe (which feels very current) or a solid block colour.

Maybe you could make like trend forecasting pro Tiffany Hsu and go for a flattering wrap-around style with tailored trousers.

Whatever your sartorial inclination, here are eight offerings to style to your heart’s desire.
