Three under the radar online brands that you need to know about

I like to think that the contents of my closet are a closely guarded secret. I love being complimented on my weird and wonderful finds and late-night weekend buys and I get a thrill out of not saying “thanks hun, Penney’s“. It get’s a little boring, don’t you think? In a bid to rid the world from looking like one giant Instagram feed, here are three hidden gems that I think you need to know and try this weekend.

Uterque.com

Breaking news: It’s Spring Tap link in bio to discover the new collection #Uterque #UterqueSquad #SS18

A post shared by Uterqüe (@uterqueofficial) on

You might vaguely recognise the name. I’ve been obsessing over Spanish brand Uterque’s ( Latin for ‘one thing and the other’ or ‘both’)  luxurious and chic collections for the past while now and frequently feature them in our shopping pieces. Since it’s establishment in 2008 the company has evolved to include a carefully selected ready-to-wear collection in which quality materials and attention to detail are of the utmost importance. The brand is under the same umbrella company which owns Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Zara Home, Stradivarius, Pull and Bear.

Why we love them

There’s a real feeling of luxury yet the price point is accessible and realistic. The brand take pride in using high-quality materials and their leather shoes are to die for. The garments give the wearer a seductive appeal and enhance silhouettes with modern cuts; but accessories are the real star of the party.  Uterque is part of the Fur Free Alliance’s Fur Free Retailer Program.

Olive Clothing

Olive is a British contemporary clothing brand based in Cheltenham that I found while looking for brands similar to Brandy And Melville. The clothes are bright and earthy and are made using organic materials. Although it doesn’t quite match my personal style, I love everything about the look and feel of the clothes and the lifestyle associated with the brand. All I need now is a quiet country house, a stable of horses and a knack for making pottery and pies.

Why we love them

Olive sell using products produced by a collective of independent designers. The collections combine heritage with modernity, and the result is elegant, simplistic and playful with a nod to street style. The pieces are understated and wearable, whether you’re a high-flyer or a busy mum at home. The company is family-owned and they take proper steps to make sure their garments are ethical and even oversee the yarn and cotton production.

Kanel

I stumbled upon Danish company Kanel while writing a recent story about the rebirth of this exciting hair trend. Immediately I was drawn in and hypnotized by the colours on the website. Kanel produces wonderful handmade flower barrettes and hair clips of all shapes and sizes. A quick scroll through their gallery will have you dreaming of all the different colour combinations you could try.

Why we love them

Who doesn’t love jewels for your hair? I love the authenticity of the products and simplicity of the brand: it’s real and trendy made by real (and trendy) Danish women. Every piece handcrafted piece is lovingly named after strong female heroines and the philosophy of the Kanel brand is simple; to make good-quality products and spread positivity.
