Everything you need to update your workwear wardrobe

Did you know the clothes you wear to work can have an impact on your productivity? It seems that by looking the part, we inherently feel the part too.

Dr Karen Pine, a fashion psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire, recently told Forbes, “When we put on an item of clothing it is common for the wearer to adopt the characteristics associated with that garment.” Some clothes have a symbolic meaning for us; whether it’s ‘professional work attire’ or ‘relaxing weekend wear’, wearing these clothes convinces our brain to behave in a way consistent with them.

If that’s the case, we become more business-focussed when wearing professional attire; versus more relaxed when we wear jeans and trainers. Dr Pine says people who wear casual clothes to work can sometimes struggle to differentiate between ‘work’ and ‘off-duty’. The solution? Invest in a professional (yet comfortable) office wardrobe. Enter Gerardine Lally and the new F&F workwear collection.

F&F Tesco

Gerardine Lally, founder and communications expert at Lally & Associates, is particularly astute when it comes to self-presentation. On Wednesday, September 26, she will join us for a media masterclass (tickets available here), explaining how best to present ourselves for a job interview, and in the office. With over 25 years’ experience, she has an impressive track record. But what is fashion advice without examples, eh?

F&F Tesco

F&F’s new workwear range offers a perfect guide. With dresses, skirts, tops, trousers, coats and accessories in selected Tesco Extra and Superstores, you’re sure to find an on-trend, office-appropriate ensemble. What’s more, these pieces won’t break the bank. Prices range from just €20 to €50.

The entire collection is created by a team of in-house designers, all of whom are inspired by global fashion trends, as well as leading designers, street style and cultural events. They continually research key colours, fabrics and silhouettes to ensure the collection is at the forefront of fashion. F&F design director Jan Marchant says, “Prints are key this season, with leopard leading the way as well as bright colours. From rainbow prints to jewel-colour shades, be brave this autumn.”

At our masterclass on Wednesday, September 26, Gerardine Lally will discuss the importance of wearing professional-yet-on trend clothes like these, as well as sharing tips for improved communication within the workplace. Once we look the part and feel the part, there’s no limit to what we can achieve at work.

F&F is available at selected Tesco Extra and Superstores. Find your nearest location here
