Tom Hardy Shuts Down Reporter Who Questions His Sexuality

The world’s obsession with those who appear to be sexually ambiguous, will it ever end? Tom Hardy was the latest in a line of stars to be questioned about his sexuality in a roundabout way, as though the details of his sexual past or present are any of our damn business. In true Tom Hardy fashion, while probed at a TIFF press conference, the Legend actor cut off the reporter who asked him to elaborate on his sexuality, leaving a rather awkward air in the room.

?In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality. But given interviews you’ve done in the past your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous. Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?? asked the reporter.

?What on earth are you on about?? responded Hardy.

?I don’t find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality. Are you asking me about my sexuality??

?Umm, sure,? the reporter said.

?Why?? Hardy asked.

Before the reporter had a chance to gather his words once more, Hardy cut the interview, simply saying ?Thank you.?

What the reporter was referring to was an interview with Attitude magazine in 2008 when Hardy was asked if he’d ever had any sexual involvement with a man: ?As a boy? Of course I have. I’m an actor for f**k’s sake. I’m an artist. I’ve played with everything and everyone,? Hardy said at the time.

We’re all for celebrities who decide to voice their personal experiences on their own terms, but there’s a time and a place for it, and it’s not something they should be forced to discuss at a film promotion event. Needless to say, Hardy was not impressed, and the reporter was certainly put in his place.

Watch the rather awkward moment here.
