A list of great events in Dublin this Sunday for International Women’s Day

The weekend has arrived, and we’re ready to use it to celebrate the women in our lives. International Women’s Day is on Sunday and there are so many brilliant events on in Dublin, it’ll be hard to hit them all (but we’ll give it a good go). Happy weekend from IMAGE!

The Tara Building: Join Sustainable Fashion Dublin (and many others) for Sisters are Doing it for Themselves

A bumper day of some of the best of Ireland’s creative women is taking place in the Tara Building this weekend, organised by the girls at Sustainable Fashion Dublin. Touching on topics like ethical fashion, diversity, and Irish communities, the day will feature talks from the likes of Fionnuala Jones, Carrie Ann Moran and Molly Stirling. On from 2pm til 5pm, the cost is just €15, with 10% of the proceeds going to the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

The GPO:  Take a special International Women’s Day tour

The GPO’s museum is a great way to spend a Sunday anyway, but this week, the iconic landmark is holding a special tour specifically about the role of women in shaping modern Ireland. The suffrage movement, the mobilising of rebel women and the struggle for the Republic will all be discussed. The tour lasts an hour and tickets are €9, but places are very limited —to book, email gpowhevents@shannonheritage.com

EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum: Rebels & Revolutionaries Tours

EPIC have been hosting a focus on the revolutionary women of Ireland for a few weeks now, and it will all culminate this Sunday, in a specially curated tour. From Mother Jones, who fought for worker’s rights in 19th and 20th century New York, to Mary Lee, one of the foremost campaigners for women’s suffrage in Australia, some of the country’s brightest women throughout history will be showcased. Tickets from €10.

Collins Barracks: International Women’s Day

This varied event at Collins Barracks is great for those who prefer a more hands-on approach to celebrating. It starts off with a flexibility class with Ornagh Lee, moving on to a guided body scan meditation with Sinead Mooney and ending with a discussion with the women of the Irish Defence Forces based on their experiences.
