WATCH: Demi Lovato’s Stunning Cover of “Take Me to Church”

Hozier performing.

It seems like the Wicklow?lad isn’t doing to badly for himself. A hugely successful debut album, both in Europe and more importantly the States, two Billboard Musica Awards and a Grammy nod for Song of the Year later, he can consider himself one of the most successful musicians in the world. He’s got photos of his times partying with Ed Sheeran and One Direction stuck?on his fridge for heaven’s sake! THAT is how you know you’ve made it.

And if he didn’t know it then, being covered by another artist on Live Lounge is another big benchmark.

This week?Demi Lovato covered his biggest hit “Take Me To Church” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and girl NAILS it. Lovato has long?been known for her soulful voice and amazing covers but the song?choice comes as a bit of a surprise following her sexy, over-the-top performance of her hit “Cool For The Summer” at the MTV Music Awards. But Lovato’s performance is soulful and her incredible vocal range is on full display in the wide ranging song.

Last week, Hozier himself performed an outrageously good cover of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” that completely turned the mellow original version on it’s head. Sam Smith was full of love for it, tweeting?”Brother Hozier – fucking love the Live Lounge cover!!!! Anything you sing makes me heart jump xx Big kisses sir xx”. And if we’re being honest, we may prefer it to Smith’s version, check it out for yourself and let us know what you think in the comments.
