Miu Miu's First Fragrance Has Arrived

Miu Miu's first ever fragrance is due to hit the shelves on September 1st and for the delectable packaging alone, we've fallen in love. Lucky enough to sample the new scent before it's available to the masses, we can assure you that Miu Miu's first foray into the world of fragrance doesn't disappoint. Then again, when it comes to something so utterly personal, it's a simple case of inhaling a spritz, deciding if it's a match for you and making a decision: to buy or not to buy?

For those new to the brand, Miu Miu describe themselves as "intelligently frivolous, fearlessly fun, seriously lighthearted and feminine feminists. They align themselves with contradictory women who acknowledge, twist and break rules." The Miu Miu woman is at once "delicate and forceful, refined and raw, demure and outrageous". In short, they're a little bit bold but and there's no such thing as 'rules'.

As for the scent? Here Miuccia Prada teamed up with perfumer Daniela Andrier to create something they're incredibly proud to release. For those who like their scents broken down to heady florals and woody notes, they start with "an elegant, sensual floral, lily of the valley, composed of real jasmine, real rose absolute, and synthetic green notes. The soft, fresh, ingenue scent is set against a deep earth-toned background: the wood and pepper of Akigalawood, an extract of patchouli." Cutting through the hyperbole, on one hand it's light and on the other, it's got a darkness to it.

Stacy Martin will be the face of the first Miu Miu fragrance.

Above all else, this perfume bottle will no doubt become a collector's item, what with the sensual, soft blue-pillowed opaque glass, with white matte collar and and translucent red bottle top. A worthy contender on many a make-up counter.
