3 Micellar Water Cleansers Under ?6 To Help You Ditch The Wipes

If you read our Olivia Palermo interview last week, you’ll no doubt have been shamed into the most rigorous of skincare routines, vowing never again in your life to fall asleep with your make-up on. The absolute horror of it, or as Olivia put it, ‘it’s just gross’. What the beauty experts say is almost as bad as sleeping with your make-up on is lying in bed (I’m not speaking from experience here, okay?), binging on your favourite box-set while you lazily drag a wipe across your face. You’re not really cleaning your skin, you’re stripping it of moisture, and we doubt if you’d ever find a pack of wipes in Miss Palermo’s bathroom cabinet, so that’s reason enough to stop, right?

Moving away from wipes in a bid to feel prettier/less like a raisin, we’ve been overjoyed by our experience with Micellar water. It’s instantly refreshing; it’s super easy to use – no need for stretching and pulling at your face to get it clean – and it hydrates your skin. What’s more, a little goes a long way. Named for their micellar action, in which micells work like magnets, attracting dirt and make-up off your skin and onto a cotton pad, this fool-proof cleansing technology has been growing in popularity, with many brands now coming across with their own offering. Bioderma (whom we feature below) explain the science behind the micellar hydrating action a little further: “its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes?and naturally help rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film.” It’s perfectly balanced, suitable for your face, eyes (no stinging, yay!) and lips and it’s gentle enough to respect your skin’s fragility.

Best of all, if you’re lazier than you care to admit, you don’t need to do this over a sink and rinse your face afterwards, you can stay snuggled up in bed, which, of course, is a major #lifegoal of ours.

Here’s three that we’ve tried and highly recommend. Your wallet will love them too.
