The women’s team of Blackrock College RFC occupies a unique place in Irish sporting history as one of Ireland’s longest-established teams and pioneered the formation of the All-Ireland League (AIL) for women as well as the Irish Women’s Rugby Football Union (IWRFU).
Founded in 1991, the team was created at a time when opportunities for women in rugby were scarce.
