5 reasons we’re crushing on Eleven Australia’s hair and body range

A multi award-winning hairdresser and a world-renowned photographer walk into a bar… and your new favourite haircare product is born. Meet Eleven Australia.

Australian. Simple. Effective.

It’s not everyday you get to meet your hair heroes – and we’re not talking about Rachel Green circa 1995. We caught up with Eleven Australia co-creators Joey Scandizzo and Andrew O’Toole as they officially launched the brand in Ireland, in an event at Smock Alley in Dublin, in partnership with IMAGE. As well as learning that the two met at a glitzy after party back in Australia 16 years ago, we managed to nab some samples, and catch a demo of the cult products in action.

Here are five reasons we’re making Eleven Australia our go-to hair care range.

1. They do what they say on the tin
It’s easy to panic when you’ve a number of products in front of you and you’re not the most gifted hair stylist in the world. That’s why the Eleven Australia range is so groundbreaking: it’s developed by a hair stylist (four-time Australia Hairdresser of the Year Joey Scandizzo) and we’ve seen the collection in action in front of our own eyes, and dare we say it, it’s user friendly! The Sea Salt spray is a tiny miracle worker in itself – get set to create the Aussie beach waves of your dreams. The Deep Clean Shampoo left us feeling nourished and scrubbed without feeling like our scalp or hair were damaged, and the I Want Body Volume Foam is perfect for an early morning when you’re pushed for time – spray a couple of dollops onto damp hair, blow it dry and feel like you’ve just stepped out of a salon.

Eleven Australia now boasts a huge range of products across hair and body after initially launching the Miracle Hair Treatment. Photo: Eleven Australia

2. The Miracle Hair Treatment makes us feel like Margot Robbie
The product that started it all, this unique treatment delivers 11 hair benefits with just a few sprays. Suitable for all hair skin types, this leave-in treatment works hard to control frizz and detangle even the most stubborn of barnets. It also gives a glossy finish, protects against split ends, and works as a heat protection spray against your styling tools AND the sun. The volume this product gives however when you leave it in, complemented by the sleek finish, is what really makes us feel like a true Aussie babe.

3. The brand is sustainable
A lot of brands are jumping on the sustainable bandwagon, but all of Eleven Australia’s products are Peta-approved and paraben-free. Most of the range is vegan-friendly, and the packaging is also recyclable, which is a dealbreaker for us shopping for products these days.

4. The two-in-one product functions are travel-friendly
The bestsellers come in nifty travel sizes for your carry-on luggage – 3 Minute Rinse Out Repair Treatment; Deep Clean Shampoo; Dry Shampoo; Mini Miracle Hair Treatment; Wash Me All Over hand and Body Wash and more – shop them here. But the two-in-one functional products, such as Moisture Lotion Hand and Body Creme and Wash Me All Over Hand and Body Wash (the 500ml of which comes in a handy squirt bottle) means we can pack less heavy items and make more room for shoes.

5. Owners Joey and Andrew are totes dreamy
Having met Eleven Australia co-creators Joey Scandizzo and Andrew O’Toole at the official Ireland launch in partnership with IMAGE at Dublin’s Smock Alley last week, we can confirm they are both adorable. Sadly, both are married. But the lads’ passion for their brand, products, and sheer no-nonsense attitude is infectious. They promise to have at least six new products on the market soon, and anyone who can remain friends for 16 years and in business together for most of it tells us they’re all-round sounders.
