Last week, Boots launched this year’s Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses with a stroll through Phoenix Park hosted by TV presenter, broadcaster and campaign ambassador Darren Kennedy.

On Friday 9 September, Boots Ireland and Darren Kennedy launched this year’s Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing service, which provides end-of-life care for people living with cancer in Ireland.

Back in person this year, the Boots Night Walk calls upon the public to sign up and walk 5km together this autumn in support of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses. Alongside the walk, Honour Tags are now on sale in Boots stores and can be purchased as a way of honouring those who have survived or passed away from cancer. The front of the tag allows for the name of the individual with space on the back for a personal message. One metre will be walked in honour of that person by members of the Boots Ireland team.

All funds raised from the event go towards the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing service, which provides end-of-life care for cancer patients, allowing them to spend their final days at home surrounded by family and loved ones, as well as giving much needed respite for the family caring for them.

Among those in attendance at the event were Irish Cancer Society Head of Children, Adolescents & Young Adults Amy Nolan, Irish Cancer Society Corporate Partnerships Manager Claire Bowman, Boots Ireland Finance Director Shane McArdle, Managing Director Boots Ireland Stephen Watkins, Boots Ireland Head of Property and Operations Pat Laffey and Irish Cancer Society Night Nurse Mary Twohill.

Speaking on the Night Walk event, Darren Kennedy said: “I am so delighted to be part of this initiative. The Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses provide an incredible service to those who need it at one of the most distressing times in their lives. The support and kindness they provide is unparalleled and I applaud them for continuing to provide this immensely important service. The Boots Night Walk is essential in raising funds and awareness for this service as it is free of charge and relies on donations, and so I’m very proud to launch this year’s Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.”
