Israel says no truce in south Gaza as ground invasion looms
Israel has denied increasing speculation that humanitarian aid will be able to get into Gaza from Egypt later today. Egyptian security sources suggested the Rafah border crossing will open shortly for eight hours in a deal being brokered by the UN, the US, Egypt and Israel. Hundreds of trucks are waiting in the Sinai town of Al-Arish for permission to enter Gaza. Rafah is the only crossing into the territory not controlled by Israel.

RTÉ has revealed that it spent more than €5,000 for Fair City producers and scriptwriters to stay overnight at a four-star hotel just 20 minutes’ drive from its Montrose campus for what it called a “residential story conference” last month. The event – details of which were first revealed by the Irish Independent last month – took place just two days before RTÉ director general Kevin Bakhurst announced an immediate freeze on recruitment and all discretionary spending in the face of an unprecedented financial crisis at the station.

FactCheck: Misleading claims about sex education found on leaflets about the SPHE curriculum
Leaflets about sex education which have recently been distributed in Dublin include misleading claims about changes to the Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum. The leaflets make a number of claims about the curriculum, which is in the process of being updated by the Government. Some of these leaflets were distributed by an event hosted by Christian Voice Ireland, who held an “information evening” about SPHE in recent weeks at the National Stadium in Dublin. Attendees were encouraged to take leaflets with them to warn others about the SPHE curriculum, and to form groups with other parents to lobby politicians against it.

Polish election: Right-wing ruling party to lose majority – exit poll
The right-wing populist Law and Justice party is on course to win most seats in Poland’s general election, an exit poll suggests, but is unlikely to secure a third term in office. Known as PiS, it is set to win 36.6% of the vote, with the centrist opposition on 31%, says the Ipsos poll. If that is correct, Donald Tusk’s Civic Coalition has a better chance of forming a coalition. He is aiming to end eight years of PiS rule under leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
