Is Angelina Jolie Retiring From Acting?

The Oscar-winning actress has had a busy eighteen months. A double mastectomy in the summer of 2013, a secret wedding, a busy role at the United Nations promoting women’s rights the world over, an honorary damehood, carrying a series of movies like Maleficent, and of course her burgeoning career as a director of note.

When you consider that crammed resum?, it makes sense that the 39-year-old might want to lessen the load and concentrate her talents on one particular area. Her debut effort, The Land of Blood and Honey, a tragic romance set amid the 1990s Bosnian conflict was a mature and gripping movie that was well-received, if not widely screened.

In an interview with Dujour magazine the actress addressed the rumours she is to give up acting to pursue directing fulltime,

“I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera.?I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m much happier.”

When asked about whether she was ready to leave her front-of-the-camera career behind entirely, Jolie replied, ?Absolutely.?

Jolie’s next movie Unbroken is released next month and sells the story of Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, who became a prisoner of war during the Second World War. With ?71 actor Jack O’Connell in the lead role expect the words ?Academy Award frontrunner? to dog this one.

And what’s next on Jolie’s endless to do list? This multi-talented heroine is currently directing herself and her husband, Brad Pitt, in By the Sea, a persiod romance she wrote about a couple working through their issues in 1970s France.
