My Life In Beauty: Lulu Guinness shares her lifelong beauty loves

Designer Lulu Guinness shares her beauty must-haves with HOLLY O’NEILL.

Three products I always have in my make-up bag are…
Hourglass foundation, €47, for the perfect coverage; Lily Lolo Natural Mascara, €16.30, to lengthen my lashes and open up my eyes; and Delilah Pure Light Illuminating Powder highlighter, €40, for a sheer, natural glow.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation, €47

My desert island essential is…
A red lip, always, it’s my signature beauty look!

A product that’s always on my nightstand is…
Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream, €56.

The first thing I put on my skin in the morning is…
Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser, €45.50.

The last beauty-related thing I do before going to bed is…
Moisturise!

The best beauty advice I ever received was…
It’s a classic one, but take your make-up off every evening. It is so important. Also, be happy and confident! Love yourself, project your best bits and disguise the ones you’re not happy with.

My lifelong lipstick love is…
Delilah Cosmetics Colour Intense Cream lipstick in Floozy, €27 – I always wear a red lip!

I’ve always wanted to…
Try growing my hair longer but I get fed up with it and get it cut short again!

The beauty appointment I never miss is….
I try to get facials as regularly as I possibly can. Recently, I was recommended to go and see Jasmina Vico in Marylebone, London and she works wonders.

The first beauty product I ever bought was…
I can’t remember! Maybe a red lipstick.

The worst beauty mistake I ever made was…
My biggest beauty regret has to be starting smoking.

My signature scent is…
Anything Diptyque, I like to get the new one for the season when they are released.

DIPTYQUE Eau de Parfum Fleur de Peaux, €125

The first perfume I loved was…
It was something with lily of the valley, but I can’t remember the name, it ended up being the inspiration behind my own perfume that I created.

I never travel without…
Moisturiser and a lipstick in my make-up bag.

I take my make-up off with…
By Terry products are my favourite skincare products – the Cellularose Micellar Water Cleanser, €50 is so good at getting rid of my make-up.

My weird make-up hack is…
I used to use theatre make-up to get a true red lip because I couldn’t find one on the usual beauty counter.

What’s the last beauty item you bought?
Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water, €38.

To me, being healthy means…
Getting my sleep and getting out of London for some fresh countryside air.

I feel most beautiful when…
I have had a good night’s sleep.

What are your go-to hair tools and products?
The new ghd x Lulu Guinness Air hairdryer, €129, with the diffuser attached gives me the perfect volume needed. I use it every day to style my hair!

My diet philosophy is…
Eat what you fancy but in moderation.

Three current obsessions…
My ghd x Lulu Guinness air hairdryer, €129; my new sculpture by Oriel Harwood; and my Donald Robertson book (@drawbertson), which has my portrait handpainted by him in the front of the book.

The lip that is the icon of my brand…
All came from me wearing bright red lipstick every day, which became a signature look for me. Bringing the lips on to the ghd stylers has been really exciting. I love the subtlety of colour of every pink and I think the final styler is very pretty. As this partnership is supporting breast cancer charities, we chose a pink lip for the occasion – and I have even started wearing a pink lipstick for the first time ever!

What really appealed to me…
about working with ghd Pink charity campaign, is that, really, my mission in life through my brand is to cheer women up, give them a moment of humour when maybe they’re going through a difficult time and to feel pretty and feminine.

The limited edition ghd x Lulu Guinness collection, featuring Lulu’s iconic lip print on the new ghd gold styler, €169 and ghd air hairdryer, €129, is available now, with €10 from every purchase going to the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer programme.
