Irish designer Aoife Mullane launches homeware collection at Brown Thomas

Born and raised in Co Wicklow, Aoife Mullane is an Irish textiles designer who blends beauty with practicality effortlessly. “I want to create designs that make you feel good every time you see them,” she says on her website. “I truly believe my fabrics can enhance your daily life through beauty and function.”

And now, thanks to her new collaboration with Brown Thomas, it’s never been easier to incorporate Aoife’s nature-inspired designs into your home.

A very special day

Speaking about the collaboration, Aoife said, “When I started out designing my fabrics three years ago, never would I have dreamed that I would be given an opportunity like this one.

“I used to stare in amazement as a little girl at the iconic Brown Thomas windows; the beautiful scent of the store, the sheer luxury and grandeur would have me in awe.

“Today marks a very special day for me and I’m so looking forward to working with Brown Thomas on this. If you are around Dublin, pop into the third floor [homeware department] to see my design work,” she said.

Aoife’s designs

“Nature’s ever-changing colours and patterns provide me with an abundance of inspiration towards my fabric designs,” Aoife says on her website. She combines this inspiration with her knowledge of textiles, which she obtained through studies at NCAD; and from this, she creates bespoke patterns for cushions and lampshades.

“Every square inch of my signature designs have been carefully considered,” Aoife adds. “Gathering inspiration, sketching in my notepad, sampling colours and testing fabrics – these are the many stages in the creative process that get lost in the world of commercial design.
