Kate Middleton Makes Bump Debut

By Jeanne Sutton
22nd Oct 2014

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, the most famous pregnant lady in the world, made her (second) baby bump debut yesterday and cue the world’s press going crazy. There was double Kate action, se we have two ensembles to study the hell out of.

First she wowed in McQueen as she and Prince William greeted the President of Singapore. The English designer has proven a perennial favourite of the Duchess ever since she walked up the aisle in that dress. The tailored coat was a subtly structured delight and we’ll no doubt see the classic grey coat making a comeback in all the shops by the end of the week. The coat of the coat did not reveal the baby bump. This pregnancy has seen Kate suffering from severe morning illness yet again so public appearances have been scant. Public speculation has been rabid. The Duchess is thirteen weeks along and it was revealed this week that Baby Number 2 was due in April.

Kate’s evening appearance saw her attend the Wildlife Photographer of The Year 2014 Awards Ceremony in Jenny Packham – another reliable go-to for the Windsor-by-marriage. The light blue suited her colouring but that draping gave away no clues as to the state of the future prince or princess. There was a daring slit, but racy thigh action was curtailed with a built-in under skirt. This was not a Dame Angelina moment. Sir David Attenborough was also at the shindig.

However, there was open toe action and from the usually demure Duchess. While she stuck with the muted palette and the LK Bennett brand, this was a very interesting move from the woman who launched thousands of pairs of nude heels and gave countless shoe shop assistants eye tics as they fielded floor queries about peach and beige shoes.

No changes on the hair front. Those brunette locks are still the glossiest in the world. You’ll know the day Kate gets a haircut because the internet will actually break.

Which outfit was your favourite?
