WATCH: The creation of Chanel’s SS18 haute couture beauty look

WATCH: The creation of Chanel’s SS18 haute couture beauty look

“There is a time for prettiness: when the world is becoming too ugly.”

Those were the words of Karl Lagerfeld after his Chanel haute couture show earlier in the year.

The Chanel Haute Couture show was pretty, to say the least –  set in a French rose garden, it was the first breath of spring; all tulle veil hats, pastel tweeds and floral embroidery.

Amongst the petal pinks and botanic embroidery was an equally blooming beauty look – a pink palette of dusky rose blush, intense peony-pink lips and dewy, glowing skin.

The haute couture shows ended in January, but as we enter an Irish spring – could mean snow, could mean 30 degrees – and the beginning of wedding season, this is exactly the look to wear to a wedding on a rainy day in June, or when the budget only stretched as far as meaning you had to wear the same go-to dress to another wedding.

A light base with sweeping bright blush, a gentle wash of pale rose and deeper berry blended into the eyes, muted brows, overloaded lashes and raspberry lipstick will brighten any done-to-death dress or drizzly day.
