Whether it be a gloss-balm hybrid that keeps the lips plumped all day or a tried and true gem packed with SPF, the staffers have their say on which lip balms are worthy of the hype.

Shayna (Sappington) Healy, Branded Content Editor and Wedding Editor

My sister recently gifted me a tube of Dior Addict Lip Glow Butter and I’ve been obsessed. It’s a gloss and balm in one and keeps my lips plumped all day long. For something a bit cheaper, you can’t go wrong with Elf Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balm with hyaluronic acid for extra hydration and Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss, which adds a touch of shimmer for nights out (and smells heavenly!).

Amber O’Shea, Social Media Manager

My go-to lip balm for this summer time is IMAGE Skincare’s Nourishing SPF 30 Lip Balm. This is a new addition to my bag and can always be trusted for these gorgeous sunny days that we’re having. What’s even better is that it’s nourishing, smells great and protects your lips from any sun damage. I’ve always found it so tricky to find a good SPF lip balm and finally I’ve found it!

For my non sunny days, I love using Weleda’s Skin Food Lip Balm. This one is my go-to in wintertime, or when I’m travelling through the airport and my lips are dry and dehydrated. I’ve been using this for a few years and it’s never let me down.

Megan Burns, Editor, IMAGE Interiors; Managing Editor, IMAGE Magazine

My lips easily get dry and flaky, and my go-to for years has been Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. It’s not specifically for lips, but rather is an all-round skin protectant and moisturiser, so I also use it to tidy up my brows, add a bit of shine to my cheeks, or treat any dry patches of skin on my hands. For lips, it’s rich and feels nourishing, and stays put for longer than most other lip balms I’ve tried, while still adding a nice shine.

Sarah Gill, Deputy Digital Editor

I’m going to echo Megan’s choice here! The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is a life saver, and lasts a really long time before having to reapply. I’ve been cursed with very sensitive lips (even Vaseline makes them tingle a bit too much for my liking), so I tend to stick with what I know for everyday lip care. Trilogy’s Everything Balm is another favourite. It’s made with rosehip, marula and manuka honey, so you know it’s gorgeously soothing and smells amazing. I stocked up on some minis, so I have a little tin in most of my bags and coat pockets.

Susan Vickers, Account Manager

My current handbag staple is Neutrogena’s Norwegian Formula Lip Care. It’s the one I always reach for when my lips feel dry or chapped. I love that it’s dermatologist-tested and actually protects against our lovely Irish weather and it’s got SPF 20. It’s definitely more of a practical everyday balm and is perfect if you want reliable hydration and protection.

Meghan Killalea, Marketing Account Executive

When it comes to lip balms, I have two products that I tend to always reach for. The first is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry which I put on every night before bed. I wake up with the softest lips, and nine times out of ten won’t feel the need to reapply during the day – it’s that hydrating! If I do fancy some lip balm during the day, I reach for my Vaseline Day Dream Lip Therapy Tin. A new enough edition to my handbag, but it’s become a fast favourite of mine. I do however really want to invest in an SPF lip balm, and I recently saw Jennifer Rock talking about the IMAGE Skincare Nourishing Lip Balm with SPF 30 and I’m very tempted to invest.

Dearbhla Lovett, IMAGE First Activations Freelancer

I am more so a lip oil gal rather than balm. Some of my favourites include the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm in Iced Latte, almost for the flavour alone. This gives a natural glow to your lips, I love it! I also love the Fenty Treatz Hydrating and Strengthening Lip Oil in Black Cherry. It’s a great handbag essential. Finally, LIDL’s Peach Lip Oil is affordable, delicious and nourishing — definitely not to be overlooked!
