Real Weddings: Hannah and Morgan’s winter sun dappled wedding

by IMAGE
16th Jan 2026

On a rare sunny day at the end of December, Hannah and Morgan returned to the site of their engagement, Powerscourt Estate, for their big day.

THE COUPLE

Morgan Mooney and Hannah O’Brien.

THEY LIVE

in Bray, Co Wicklow.

THE VENUE

St. Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, and Powerscourt House & Gardens, Co Wicklow.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Dena Shearer.

THEY MET

At St Mary’s College RFC.

THE PROPOSAL

On February 13, 2023 (tactical or cheeky?), Morgan dragged me out for a promised lunch in Avoca Powerscourt, where he then decided “last minute” to go into the gardens for a stroll – he waited for the perfect spot, in front of the fountain, while I was taking a picture of my favourite place. When I turned around, Morgan was down on one knee, and I got the fright of my life, but the best surprise ever.

THE DRESS AND THE SUIT

Dress: Jesus Peiro (2446) from The White Room, Mullingar
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik, Hangisi
Jewellery: Brereton Jewellers, Grafton & Capel Street, Dublin
Tux: Louis Copeland & Sons

THE CEREMONY

A traditional Catholic church wedding in St Mary’s Parish Church, Enniskerry.

THE RECEPTION

The sublime Powerscourt House and Gardens, with food and drink by Feast catering. Orlaith from Feast orchestrated the whole affair, and it was just spectacular.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

Simply Strings for the church and drinks reception. Funk Bureau for the after party!

THE DECOR

I did DIY wreaths and garlands for most of the decor, along with multiples of candles. Flowers were by the gorgeous Zara Kelly. Couldn’t have trusted anyone else! She did the bouquets, button holes and top table centrepiece for the reception.

THEIR TOP TIPS

  • Don’t stress about what happens on the day. It’ll be over before you know it!
  • Enjoy the moments with friends and family. Keep the photographer for as long as possible, as they get the best dancefloor pics!
  • Follow your own wishes, don’t worry about what others want or think. Anyone who is there for the right reasons will want you to just enjoy your day.
  • Ask guests on the RSVP to send a song request. You can then send these on a playlist to the DJ so everyone and every generation is happy!

THEY WISH THEY HAD

We honestly cannot think of anything we didn’t have that we would have wanted. We were just glad to have sun on December 28… what more could you want?!

THEIR BEST MOMENTS

Seeing each other as I walked down the aisle. It put both of our nerves at ease!

Spending time with friends and family on the day when we wouldn’t get to see as often as we’d like and knowing that everyone was there to celebrate with us was truly special.

THE FIRST DANCE SONG

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

THE CREW

Venue: Powerscourt Estate; Dress: The White Room, Mullingar; Suits: Louis Copeland & Sons; Catering: Feast; MUA: Juliet Morrow Makeup; Flowers: Zara Kelly; Cake: Local Bray baker, Eleanor; Entertainment: Simply Strings and Funk Bureau.
