Platform heels are your party season saviour shoe

Step into Christmas in a pair of the most fabulous shoes ever.

Platform heels do not look like they would be practical, much less comfortable to walk in… but for some inexplicable, gravity-defying reason; they are. The epitome of party season dressing, the gargantuan heel and dainty ankle strap combo really took off last year when Versace’s Barbiecore version was seen dominating the runways.

A favourite with celebrities, influencers and everyday style mavens alike, you can wear them with just about anything  – they look as good with jeans and a nice top as they do a sequined minidress. Hell, wear them with your fluffiest pyjamas and forgo slippers altogether; your feet probably wouldn’t know the difference anyway.

Initially hesitant to embrace anything other than Crocs, Uggs and orthopaedic running shoes, even I’ve been swayed by the trend and at just 5ft 3in (on a good day), the platform shoe has become my short girl secret weapon.

We rounded up some of the best platform heels available now below. Tell a friend.
