Meet the new dream treatment for face, eye and neck rejuvenation
Polynucleotides, microneedling and LED phototherapy all in one treatment – hello skin rejuvenation!
At Fitzgerald Private Clinic, sisters Dr Deirdre and Dr Róisín Fitzgerald are constantly looking at more effective ways to deliver better skin treatments, using our own skin’s regeneration as a more natural approach.
Dr Deirdre and Dr Róisín Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Private Clinic
This revolutionary new treatment takes a three-pronged approach to include microneedling, LED light therapy and polyneucleotides. Microneedling has long been known to be beneficial to skin health, through its induction of collagen and elastin production and remodelling. LED phototherapy is an excellent stand-alone treatment for various skin conditions, and also for a reduction in downtime after procedures such as microneedling. Polynucleotides have been available for a long time, but are enjoying a renaissance, relating to their improved formulations and proven results. The sisters were inspired to combine all three collagen-stimulating options into one treatment, using the synergy of this ‘trinity’ to further the results we would expect from each treatment individually. Since the introduction of ‘Skin Trinity’ at the Dublin and Donegal Clinics, it has proven to be revolutionary, with clients loving its effectiveness, not to mention the convenience of having three proven and safe treatments in one visit when time is so precious to us all.
Some may wish to arrange extra polynucleotide treatments on a separate day if there are particular areas of concern, like a crepey undereye area or neck, so Dr Deirdre or Dr Róisín can inject higher concentrations of polynucleotides to targeted areas.
What happens during the treatment?
A full history is taken and the skin assessed to ensure suitability for the treatment. Numbing cream is then applied. Sterile CE-marked polynucleotides (Plinest) are applied to the prepared skin, and the surgical grade needles of SkinPen Precision are used to deliver the vertical skin needling that will create the micro-channels to allow the skin to absorb the polynucleotides. The combination of microneedling and polynucleotides aims to bring about improvement in fine lines, skin pigmentation, texture and tone. We have observed it to be helpful with dark circles for some also.
The treatment is completed with Dermalux LED Phototherapy. This uses clinically proven neo-infrared and blue lights to reduce post-procedure redness and downtime
.
It is normal to still be red and for the skin to feel tight for 3-4 hours after the procedure, however, for the majority of people, this settles completely within 24-48 hours. Some patients experience a peel in the days after the procedure, as the skin turns itself over.
Is there any preparation needed pre-treatment?
If you are using topical Vitamin A (Retinol, Tretinoin or any of the Retinal/ Retinaldehyde family), it is advised to stop using them three days in advance of the treatment.
Is there anyone who should not have this treatment?
This treatment is suitable for most skin, pending the in depth consultation, however should be avoided if pregnant or breast feeding, any history of fish allergy (polynucleotides are fish-derived), Roaccutane therapy within past six months, active skin infection (coldsores, fungal or bacterial lesions), history of bleeding disorders or currently on blood thinners and any history of keloid scarring.
How many treatments are needed?
For optimal results, three treatments, three weeks apart, are recommended. Skin Trinity can also be alternated with other rejuvenation treatments, eg Morpheus8 or skin peels. Your skin therapist, nurse or doctor can advise you of the best options to suit your skin concerns and goals.
When will I see results?
Results will usually only become evident two skin cycles (12 weeks) from the first treatment, and will last 6-9 months after completion of the course. As with any collagen-stimulating treatment, results vary depending on the individual’s body’s response and maintenance will be required to encourage ongoing collagen stimulation.
How much does it cost?
The Fitzgerald Private Clinics, Dublin and Donegal, are currently offering an introductory rate for one treatment (face OR neck), €500 or one treatment face AND neck, €730.
