From Chanel to Hailey Bieber, this candy hue is taking over

From Chanel to Hailey Bieber, this candy hue is taking over

Bust a mauve.

All things Nineties to Noughties have returned from bucket hats to Alexa Chung’s Mulberry bag and powdery lilac is the latest improbable revival.

If you’re not prepared to do a full lilac fit a la Hailey Bieber in Paris in a lilac Raf Simons sweater-tank, miniskirt from The Attico, and Bottega Veneta bag, ease your way in with lilac accessories. They’re everywhere you look, from bags to barrettes, but this is not a flash in the pan trend that will only see you through the end of summer.

Lilac is here to stay, and featured in the AW21 collections in every format from Chanel’s suiting to Miu Miu’s skiwear. In pale, soft and youthful hues, it’s almost a neutral, so it will be just as easy to wear with leather pants in winter as it is to wear with a slip dress now without being overbearing. It’s a much-needed injection of joy into a wardrobe of groutfits.
