Why we’re watching Riviera for our SS19 style inspiration

Sky’s hit original series Riviera is back for a second season on Sky Atlantic, and between the glamour, stunning backdrops and street style icon Poppy Delevigne as the new star, we will be glued to our screens for style inspiration.

Firstly the show. Julia Stiles returns as Georgina Clios – the smart and tenacious art curators whose life was thrown into turmoil after the mysterious death of her millionaire husband. Picking up in the immediate aftermath of the explosive conclusion to series one, a member of the Clios family has gone missing, and the blood is on Georgina’s hands. Doing all she can to conceal the murder from her extended family, Georgina makes a turbulent return to the Riviera – only to find a sinister message waiting for her. Someone knows her secret. Georgina’s attempts to find the identity of her accuser entangle her with the Eltham family – an English dynasty with secrets of their own.

The Elthams feature a family of new cast members, including Juliet Stevenson as Lady Cassandra Eltham, Poppy Delevigne as her daughter Daphne, and Alex Lanipekun as Daphne’s partner Raafi Al-Qaadi.

The second series, with all episodes released on May 23, promises to be full of just as much glamour, intrigue and fabulous outfits as Season One. Sharing her inspiration behind the show’s stunning outfits, Riviera‘s Costume Designer Emma Fryer said that she went shopping in central London with Delevigne to find the essence of her character, Daphne Eltham, through her clothing. Using designers like Emilia Wickstead, Alice Temperley and Zimmerman, Fryer described used “floatier, softer” materials to reflect Delevigne’s character.
