Why Gwyneth Paltrow Keeps All Her Famous Designer Dresses

Not everyone is a fan of Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Her luxury lifestyle website Goop tends to rub many up the wrong way (well she has suggested we try some bizarre things) and her (rather smug) conscious uncoupling?from former spouse, Coldplay member Chris Martin has attracted so many column inches that some are plain sick of hearing about it. Yes, the woman gets a lot of shade, however,’she’s talented (Sliding Doors remains her most underrated gem ever) and hardworking; alongside her acting projects, she runs her website, is a busy brand ambassador and now, she’s a fashion designer. The Iron Man star recently launched Goop’s new capsule collection with Valentino and revealed that what we’ve heard about actresses ‘borrowing’ designer gowns for one night only is somewhat of a fashion myth, as Paltrow has kept every single one of her red carpet gowns.

However, she has done so for a very special reason. Rather than give the gowns away, she said she kept them for one purpose only – to pass them on to her 11-year-old daughter, Apple. Is it wrong that we’re jealous of an 11-year-old? Paltrow revealed her young daughter will get everything, and this includes her infamous pink Ralph Lauren gown she wore to the 1999 Academy Awards to pick up her Best Actress gong for Shakespeare In Love.

“Maybe she’ll wear it to prom and do a Pretty in Pink thing and resew it and cut it up,” she told Vogue, before adding: “I don’t know if I’d let her chop that one up!” Showing her sentimental side, Paltrow admitted that she couldn’t?thrown any of her looks away. “What’s funny is I’ve been saving my gowns and special things since 12 years before she was born, so I have everything – I have every Oscars dress.” Whatever your opinion of Paltrow might be, she is a style maven and her award show ensembles have been quite flawless over the years, as you’ll see from our gallery above. ?Paltrow’s only daughter will be getting her hands on some seriously beautiful designer stash.?
