There's a hint of summer on the air, which inevitably has us dreaming of sunny getaways abroad spent languishing by the pool. Limited suitcase space means you have to be savvy with your outfit planning. Pack a good pair of sandals and that's half the battle won already.
Birkenstocks
Investing in a pair of Birkenstocks was the best summer purchase I’ve ever made. They’re the comfiest sandal I’ve ever worn, go with absolutely everything and even double as a pair of slippers for wandering around the house. Couldn’t recommend more.
Dad sandals
Chunky, quilted, sometimes velcro; the dad sandal is the very shoe your own father would pack for family holidays abroad. Don’t let that put you off though. A favourite amongst the Instagram style set, they’re the perfect pairing for everything from shorts and a tee to dressier summer ensembles alike.
Fisherman sandals
The Marmite of the sandal world – you either love them or loathe them – fisherman sandals can be worn with or without socks… and an interest in fishing isn’t even a pre-requisite.
Flip flops
The great thing about flip flops is that, generally, you can get them wet – making them the perfect shoe for a day at the beach. Go for a brightly coloured pair and match them to your favourite frock like Nicole did.
