Three Perfect Day-To-Night Coats

Three Perfect Day-To-Night Coats

Tis (almost) the season to be jolly, and to be prepared for spontaneous boardroom to bar outings. A great piece of outerwear is your sartorial secret weapon at this time of year, as it can elevate the simplest of outfits and add a stylish point of difference to your look. Here are three of my favourite wear-anywear coats.

Winter white always looks luxurious. This Topshop coat makes a simple sweater and jeans combination feel fresh and modern, especially coupled with white loafers. I really like the contrast stitching and the button detailing on the cuffs. This coat would also work beautifully over tuxedo-style evening wear, or an elegant slip dress.

This exquisite wool jacket is top of my wish list right now. The wide sleeves and embroidered detailing give it something of a 1920s feel. It looks beautifully understated worn over a polo-neck and ski pants, but for me this piece will really come into its own for evening. It’s the perfect way to stay warm and still look stylish when going to a cocktail party or formal event on an icy cold November or December evening.

It’s all about faux fur coats this season. Cult London label Shrimps (sold in Havana) seems to have revived this once-derided fabric and now the fashion elite is having a love affair with it. This multi-coloured option from Zara will bring colour and texture to your outfits. For evening wear, drape it over your shoulders for an elegant reimagining.
