Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there’s no way you could have missed the insane hype surrounding the latest Star Wars movie (word has it that it really is rather good), and alongside all the obvious film talk, all eyes have been on its leading lady, newcomer Daisy Ridley who is proving to be quite the fashionista on the red carpet. The British actress is only 23, but considering her very first film is in one of the year’s most talked about epics, she’s really not off to a bad start.?And with due respect to Princess Leia and Queen Amidala, this is no damsel role, nor is it that of supportive sidekick to the guys who are really driving the Millennium Falcon, the female lead?has been vigorously updated and taken away from stereotype for the first time in’the series’ four-decade history. The young star is ready to be a new kind of role model and said her character Rey should inspire young women in the most positive way: “[Rey is] so strong. She’s cool and smart and she can look after herself. Young girls can look at her and know that they can wear trousers if they want to,” Ridley said in a recent interview. “That they don’t have to show off their bodies.”

And during the busy Star Wars press tour Ridley has proven to be quite the style maven; we’ve yet to see a look that hasn’t worked. From the futuristic to old Hollywood glamour, multicoloured prints to classic cuts and elegant textures, she’s holding her own in the style game and we wouldn’t be one bit surprised if major campaign deals are on the way.

Does anyone else think she looks the image of Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman? Not a coincidence by any means.

See some of her best looks in the gallery above.
