Our own personal influencers: this week on a new episode of Smart Casual
10th Apr 2019
Smart Casual is IMAGE’s first fashion podcast, in collaboration with Kildare Village. In our bi-weekly chats, we examine why we wear the clothes we do and deal with personal style in a way that speaks to you.
Who would you choose as the biggest influencers on your personal style? The pop star you idolised as a teenager? Your eternally cool older sister? The put-together street style mavens you pass on your way to work? This week (rather fittingly), our Smart Casual topic is ‘influencers’ — not just those always-on-and-always-stylish Instagram stars, but our own personal sources of style inspiration. Edaein, Marie and our new guest-host, stylist and creative consultant Sarah Rickard, discuss the women who have inspired and influenced their personal style — from childhood right up to their 2019 wardrobes.
With a wider view, our guest this week is Ciara O’Doherty, a woman who exemplifies the millennial multi-hyphenate — blogger, influencer, stylist and presenter. Ciara chats to Edaein about her decade-long career in the Irish blogging business, and how she has seen the business of influencing evolve and change over that time. The pair chat about personal style, the ‘blogging bubble’ and what’s next for the digital world of fashion.
Episode 15 of Smart Casual, in collaboration with Kildare Village, is available now on SoundCloud and iTunes – make sure to like, subscribe and rate us wherever you enjoy your podcasts. Smart Casual is hosted by Dominique McMullan, Marie Kelly and Édaein O’Connell, and produced by Erin Lindsay. If you can’t wait to download, have a listen to the new episode below:
