What Olivia Palermo Wears Better Than Anyone

What Olivia Palermo Wears Better Than Anyone

The answer is colour, of course. The Park Avenue princess incorporates colour into her outfits?in such a smart and unique way. She’s?rarely as obvious as simply colour-blocking separates (although when she does, she’s never predictable in her pairings – purple with yellow and burgundy with blue, for instance). Instead, she’s far more likely to inject?a surprise shot of colour?in an unexpected?way. For example, grey skinny jeans and a textured grey poloneck are reinvented with a yellow-gold bomber jacket. Who else but Olivia Palermo would think of this killer combination?

Similarly, the fashion uniform of seventies-inspired flares?are made Palermo’s own with the addition of a chartreuse fitted blazer. Jean genius!

She also understands how to reprogramme the way we think about?certain shades. Baby blue feels anything but kiddy when worn in the form of a leather skirt (notice the wrap-around belt is navy not black; it mixes more fluidly with the blue and grey and complements her black boots without looking too matchy matchy). And she never fails to incorporate texture when really needed. The?leather skirt and grey knit pairing below could feel a little flat without the textured collar and sleeves.

For many women, a print makes enough of an impression. Palermo, however, chose to pair this exquisite two piece of culottes and a tank top with a pair of burgundy boots for that additional wow factor. With Palermo, the devil is in the detail. Her colour coding is subtle yet statement-making. It sounds like a paradox, but the former star of The City‘selects and styles shades that make an impact by immediately drawing your eye, without ever being in any way shouty.
