Oh Cannes

Oh Cannes. The glut of glamour that comes every year from the French seaside never fails to disappoint. We fell for Blake Lively’s Gucci number the opening night and as the week went on found a steady supply of style crushes, and while we think Blake triumphed early on, we’ve got to hand it to Jessica Chastain and that lilac Grecian number. Anyone else getting Meg from Disney’s Hercules vibes? Also poor America Ferrara having to deal with that guy who tried hiding under her skirt. Not on.

This year saw Cannes become supermodel central with Rosie Huntington Whitley and Cara Delevingne attending what seems to be every party. Karlie Kloss disappeared for a few days due to illness. Movies wise, AKA the entire purpose of the festival, Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut for Lost River get booed. The Ryan Reynold’s starring The Captive also got the crowd in a critical mood. Not a good year for Ryans. Turkish movie Winter Sleep won the Palme d’Or while Julianne Moore nabbed Best Actress for Maps to the Stars and Timothy Spall was awarded Best Actor for Mr. Turner.
