The stars swished down the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet, and all in all it was a pretty good start to award season. Very few got it wrong (we weren’t feeling?Natalie Dormer – it just didn’t hang right and J-Law looked awkward in a predicable Dior with overstated jewellery and hair that made her look way beyond her years), but so many got it so right.?Brie Larson shone in a cut-out Calvin Klein,?Alicia Vikander wore possibly the best of the night in a beautiful sequined, white Louis Vuitton gown with subtle ruffle details and flying the flag for the Irish, Saoirse Ronan in an ethereal YSL and Caitriona Balfe rocked a divine McQueen number.
Metallics were all the rage tonight as Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth and Eva Green all embraced them with gusto and a more demure white was also popular among many.
See our gallery above for more of hits and misses of the night and below for a little more dissection:
Jennifer Lopez
Does the woman ever get it wrong? She looks amazing in a canary-yellow?Giambattista Valli dress.
Cate Blanchett?
She normally gets it so perfect, but we just weren’t feeling her patterned, dusted-pink Givenchy choice. Like Lawrence, her hair and make-up made her look much?older than she actually is.
Taylor Schilling
The OITNB actress dares to bare in a classic black suit by Thakoon, in tune with the?paillette trend?because it’s a fancy night. Who says black is boring?
Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer opts for a full-skirted black and white off-the-shoulder dress with pocket details, and really pulls the look off. We love her.
Olivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo makes her Golden Globes debut in a multi-coloured strapless dress – it won’t be to everyone’s taste, but she looks all kinds of beautiful.
Amber Heard
One word – WOW. That Gucci dress.
Channing And?Jenna Dewan Tatum
Because just look how perfect they are together.
Julianne Moore
She will always deserve a mention. In her shimmery, deep blue Tom Ford gown, she’s on trend as well as fabulous.
