Gorgeous Dresses For Communion Day Mums

Gorgeous Dresses For Communion Day Mums

It’s not just a child’s special day, it’s every proud parent’s, too. So if you’re a mum celebrating a Communion this year, think about wearing one of these chic dresses on the day.

Stay away from loud, busy prints as you’ll draw attention to yourself and away from your child for all the wrong reasons. A polka dot, however, is understated and effortlessly chic. This two piece from online retailer Uterque includes a flattering frill that extends from the waistline of the skirt to the hem, thereby elongating the body. The spaghetti straps are a little showy for daytime (not to mention chilly), so pair with a tailored blazer.

Try a short tunic dress worn over a pair of cropped tailored trousers. I love this delicate shade of teal. It feels fresh and spring-like but isn’t a pastel shade, which can wash out some of us completely. The pearl detailing and ruffle trim add a lovely ladylike touch that will balance out the masculinity of tailored trousers.

If you’re like me, you’ll love the long sleeves offered by this Madewell dress. The wrap-style effect is very flattering, and it’s the perfect piece to take you from the church, to lunch, to after-dinner drinks.

If you’re concerned that black may look a little funeral, then stay away from anything chiffon or tulle-like. This gorgeous knife pleat dress from Massimo Dutti has a lovely 1920s feel to it. I would style it with bare legs and heels for a Communion Day rather than black knee-high boots, which make the whole look feel a little blocky and wintry.

If you prefer shorter, but flattering hemlines then this teal V-neck wrap dress from &OtherStories is a must. This dress features a comfortable crossover tie-belt so it can be worn to your perfect fit. The drop shoulder and kimono sleeve are perfect if you’re conscious of your upper arm or shoulders, yet the deep V neckline is flattering and feminine. Pair with opaque tights or go bare if the weather permits it.

For those of you who are a little more daring, try this jagged hemline dress in regal royal blue by OU Boutique Stories. Complete with collar, side splits and darling button-down detailing, this is a gorgeous choice you want extra wow factor. This is definitely an investment piece instead of a one-off party look that will see you through seasons to come.
