Denim Brands To Know About Now

There’s nothing more exciting than finding a new denim brand that makes you feel like the very best version of yourself (and really, that’s the magic of denim). Here are a few labels on my radar right now.

Hiut Denim

Irish designer Natalie B Coleman drew my attention to this British denim brand, which offers just two fits, a low-waist skinny and a high-waist skinny; one denim, which is stretch; and one tech fabric for the more active among us. They claim to “make the best jeans we can, not the most jeans we can.” So the online retailer has a curated selection of denim on its website, which includes these girlfriend jeans, which I love. Perfect for that casual, laid-back cool we all try?to achieve in summer, they hang low on the hips and skim rather than smother your silhouette.

Sezane

French brand Sezane claims to offer the finest fabrics and best craftsmanship. The jeans on its website look to be very much made for grown-up women, with shape to their silhouette, rather than for willowy youngsters. These Mom jeans (one of the styles of this season) have a high-waist to create an hourglass silhouette and they are supposed to flatten the tummy and slim the thighs. They come in a mid-blue and dark-blue wash. I?always think a dark wash is more slimming.

Reformation

I’ve become a big fan of ethical retailer Reformation over the past year because it in no way compromises on style in order to achieve its ethical aims. IMAGE Magazine recently featured comedian Aisling Bea on its cover, and something she said about ethical clothing in that interview really resonated with me. “It’s just about trying. If we all tried, imagine what we could achieve.” Imagine. Well, labels like Reformation make it easy to do so. I love these retro cropped flares.

Re/Done Levi’s

If you have even one retro bone in your body, you’ll love these reworked vintage Levi’s 501s. Re/Done Levi’s founders Sean Baron and Jamie Mazur rework original pieces to create a one-of-a-kind trouser. They describe their customer as “a woman who is confident, classic, but never trying too hard.” Given that bootcut jeans are coming back for AW17, these are really hitting the mark right now.
