How To Add Polish To Your Casual Wear

How To Add Polish To Your Casual Wear

Adding polish to your casual wear, while still keeping it low-key and comfy can be a challenge. The answer? Dark denim and a couple of interesting accessories. Here’s a little catwalk inspiration to get you started.

An indigo shade of denim will take you anywhere. It’s now acceptable party wear when worn with a barely there ankle strap heel. But for casual wear, pair it with a patent brogue (dark denim works far better with patent than a lighter wash).

Chose an elevated sweater. A slightly oversized style (not sloppy) looks chic in an off-duty manner. Go for something textured as it will add softness to denim.

At weekends, there’s no need to lug around a laptop or ipad, so edit down the contents of your handbag to the bare essentials (wallet, keys, phone, lip gloss) and go with a smart mini bag instead. A chain strap or metallic’detailing adds extra polish.

Choose an interesting shoe to smarten up your denim/sweater ensemble. Pointed toes are key for AW16 so choose something like the statement flat pictured. Buckles are also a big micro-trend this coming season so this style is ticking lots of practical and trend boxes all at once.
