Fashion Fix: The return of the three-piece suit

Fashion Fix: The return of the three-piece suit

Everyone’s loving three-piece suits these days, here are some of our favourites.

Whether it’s Irish stylist Courtney Smith’s gorgeous linen version or Zara’s high street take on the classic, three-piece suits are having a moment and you don’t necessarily need a big corporate event to wear one to either.

Tailoring has long been a staple on the annual fashion forecast, though its popularity has waxed and waned over the years. This year, it’s not so much a comeback as a reboot, as bespoke New York clothing company, The Tailory, points out.

“Truth be told, the three-piece suit has never completely gone away from mainstream fashion, it has merely recalibrated itself to changing times in ways that are more accessible to people of all shapes and sizes, genders, and personal aesthetics,” they note.

Already dominating at fashion weeks the world over, it’s clear that the trend is very much in public favour once again. At Couture Fashion Week in Paris, designer Daniel Roseberry showed us how it’s done with boxy shoulders and extreme hourglass silhouettes in exaggerated pinstripe. On the high street, everyone from Zara to The Frankie Shop and Swedish brand NA-KD have put their own spin on it.

Last year, Margot Robbie sent us running to Mango to nab her look before it sold out. Worn individually or together, matching separates take the stress out of outfit planning. Not only that, but each piece can also be worn (and reworn) in multiple different ways… meaning that a power suit is actually quite a good investment (office dress code aside).

A more genderless approach to fashion means that people have been favouring more fluid styles and if the latest collections are any indication, the three-piece suit isn’t going anywhere.
