Emily O’Donnell is a stylist and fashion broadcaster with a passion for Irish design. Drawn to bold colours and anything shiny, her style is a fun and vibrant and every bit as bubbly as she is. Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.
MONDAY
Today I had lots of client meetings so I wanted to wear something functional but fashionable, so I opted for this jumpsuit from The Walk in Wardrobe. I styled it up with my Chanel Mini Bag – I got it years ago in a vintage shop in St Germain in Paris – and my Chanel sandals. I got my hands on them during the pandemic when a friend bought them and they didn’t fit her so she sold them to me for a very good price! As I was going for a look based around silver hardware today, I kept the accessories simple with my failsafe and much-loved watch from Rocks Jewellers and a simple necklace and bangle from Dyrberg Kern.
TUESDAY
Today I am pulling looks for one of my TV fashion features which I do regularly so I’ve opted for comfortable chic. The weather is unseasonally bad for July so I’ve taken out my leather trench coat from Caroll Paris and styled it with a simple striped jumper from Safura and some cream jeans from Serena Boutiques. I tied the look together with my Nico bag from Anine Bing bought in Seagreen (I have two of these bags and they are super handy) and the most comfortable pair of metallic boots from Nyles and Rafe, they have a great edit of really cool shoes and boots every season. Where possible, I always try to buy any international brands I like from Irish Boutiques.
WEDNESDAY
The weather has brightened up at last so I have opted for some colour today. If you follow me on Instagram, you will already know I am a huge fan of colour for the positive impact it has on your mood. I’m attending a work event today and the dress code is “continentally classic” so I’ve chosen this green broderie anglaise dress I got in Monsoon. I styled it with the cutest leather bucket bag I got in Quinta do Lago from a lovely brand called 9 Islands. Accessories-wise, to bring the look together I added tassel earrings from Irish brand Betty & Biddy, a gold necklace from Crystals and Co, and some gold bangles from Dryberg Kern. To finish the look off I popped on these gorgeous tan leather wedges from Nyles and Rafe. I wear a lot of clothes/accessories from female-run brands and shops as I can relate to being a woman in business so I’m always keen to show support and solidarity to others.
THURSDAY
Today I’m delighted to be attending a friend’s black tie wedding and it’s a cracker of a day so I chose this Grecian-Inspired Look. I actually wore this dress recently on the red carpet for the VIP Style Awards and it went viral so I thought it give it another outing! Even though I have a huge demand for clothes with my job as a fashion broadcaster and stylist, I always wear things more than once and enjoy doing so. Anything I am finished with, I donate to The Fashion Relief Shop in aid of Oxfam in The Frascati Centre. I got the dress in Quinta do Lago shopping, it’s great for picking up a one-off you won’t see at home and I’ve bought a lot there over the years. I kept the theme with large hoop earrings from Moschino, bought during Milan Fashion Week a few years back, a woven bag from Fabulisa and of course my vintage watch from Rocks Jewellers.
FRIDAY
I’m continuing my dopamine dressing this week in this Barbiecore-inspired look. I was styling a pink-themed shoot to coincide with the launch of the eagerly anticipated Barbie movie which opened worldwide last month, so I always try and practice what I preach and dress in whatever trend I am focusing on just to tie it all together! I went for this oversized suit from Lily and Rose and styled it with the most gorgeous jewelled bag from Memories Boutique. Memories have one of the most incredible accessories edits I’ve ever seen so it’s my go place if I need a little something special to elevate a look. I needed a bit of height with this look as the suit is an oversized fit so I popped on these trusty gold platforms from Zara. I don’t actually buy a lot of high street clothes anymore as I’m watching my fashion footprint as best I can and I’m always keen to support smaller Irish-owned retailers who offer excellent customer service and something a little bit different.
SATURDAY
Today is a hectic day of admin and press previews. As a stylist, these are an absolute must to see what’s coming in for the next seasons and to see what each brand has to offer! I also love meeting brands and designers in person to get a better feel of how we can work together. Today I’ve gone a little bit more international and I’m wearing one of my favourite items in my wardrobe – this gorgeous suede trench coat from luxury brand Fairfax and Favour. Their pieces are made with the finest design and craftsmanship. They’re what I call forever pieces you will have in your wardrobe for years and can style up so many different ways. Today, I’ve styled it with a blue striped shirt from Safura, printed jeans picked up in Next, suede boots from Bash Paris bought in Seagreen and my beautiful denim Chanel bag which I absolutely treasure.
SUNDAY
Today I am presenting my live fashion feature on Ireland AM! This is my favourite part of my job as I love the buzz of live TV and I am lucky enough to have been presenting with the weekend team for the last seven years, and counting! As I’m featuring sunset style today, I went for this yellow two-piece from Style Kloset. I think it’s something a little different which I love as I really try and mix my TV outfits up to showcase different styles and trends. I styled it with my gold chain from Crystals and Co, my double bangles from Dryberg Kern and my gold platforms from Zara. I always plan my outfits for TV well in advance and document them on my Instagram as well as people are always keen to see what I’m wearing as well as what I’m featuring. I won’t lie, trying to look good all the time is a task and a half but I enjoy the challenge!
