If you love wearing fake tan, but are concerned about the environmental effects, Cocoa Brown is a great Irish brand to go for.

We all love to look our best, but in 2020 the clever consumer is engaging in far less impulse buying and making far more considered purchases.

And I am no different. When it comes to beauty products, it’s important to me that everything I wear on my face and skin is as environmentally friendly as possible. Thankfully, cruelty-free products are far more popular now than they ever have been, and there are so many options on the market to choose from. But to find products that are both certified cruelty-free and vegan formulas is a difficult task — and to buy from an Irish-owned business is harder still.

That’s why I was so excited to discover that Cocoa Brown, one of the biggest Irish beauty success stories of recent years, has invested in formulas that are both cruelty-free and vegan. All of Cocoa Brown’s products are certified cruelty free, and its latest launch of tanning products are vegan too — meaning I can indulge in my Tanning Thursdays with no guilt for the environment.

Self-tan oil

The first of the products is Cocoa Brown Perfect Fade Self-Tan Oil — a luxurious oil that dries instantly and develops a smooth, bronzed glow over a few hours. The oil gives the skin the perfect texture and hydrated glow to maintain a bronzed tan for up to a week, and ensure a natural fade thereafter. Marissa Carter, founder of Cocoa Brown, says: “Perfect Fade Self-Tan Oil is an excellent alternative to our 1 Hour Mousses for those with dry skin. The oil gives the skin more hydration. It moisturises, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth with a gorgeous bronzed colour’’.

Body make-up

The second product is the Body Make-Up — a water-resistant tan for both face and body that gives the skin an airbrushed finish, and smooths and hides imperfections. This tan is the perfect all-rounder, as it’s suitable for both face and body, and is lightweight to wear as often as you’d like. Marissa says of the Body Make-Up: “In answer to the growing trend of customers looking for a product that acts as a foundation on the full-body, we have added Body Make-up Colour and Coverage to the Cocoa Brown range. Forget cakey tan, our Body Make-up will give you a flawless golden colour you deserve whilst covering any blemishes on the skin.”

And best of all, both products are vegan and cruelty-free — an absolute must for what I put on my body. I can’t wait to try them out.

The Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter range is available from Cocoa Brown stockists nationwide.
