Sustainable gifts for your eco-conscious beauty lover

Sustainable gifts for your eco-conscious beauty lover

Sustainable gifts are a great way to show you’re thinking of someone at Christmas time, but without the (slightly guilty) feeling of excess and materialism which lingers at this time of year…

Buying sensibly is something we’re all becoming more conscious about this year, and hopefully that trend will continue into 2020 — it kind of has to, really. We’re consuming the planet’s natural resources at such a pace that sometimes it’s good to make a more thoughtful choice when buying beauty.

Making an effort to shop for recyclable, refillable, plastic-free and locally-made products can make a world of difference. Here are five ideas for beauty gifts (big and small) that tick those boxes.

With their pledge to be a zero-waste beauty brand, REN has a strong sustainability message and release a report each year to show in detail exactly how they’re working to help the planet.

Cotton buds that are made with plastic are so damaging to the environment, and using them now when there are so many options readily available from brands like Hydrophil, is just a bit irresponsible.

LUSH is well known for their no-packaging initiatives, and their personal care products like this no packaging shower gel, gets my vote every time for sustainability efforts.

VOYA is an Irish-made brand that makes truly indulgent products but without the cost to the environment. The lemon and lime lip balm is delicious (it’s in the name) and the carbon footprint of owning one is low.

When it comes to innovating to help the planet, L’Occitane is making great strides with their refillables. Using 90% less packaging, the refills are just as amazing and gifting-worthy as their original counterparts.
