Sick of going to battle with your frizz-prone hair? These five products will help

Sick of going to battle with your frizz-prone hair? These five products will help

Summer holiday time is just around the corner. Warmer weather (hopefully) means we tend to give our hair a break and let the sun do its bit. But natural and curly means only one thing when you bring humidity into the mix: frizz. In hair terms, frizz, for many, is the enemy. We spend our days trying to banish it but, as those who have it will know, it tends to beat us at every turn. That is until you use the right products. And whether you have loose waves or full-on curls, these gems will make the most of them with no frizz or flyaways in sight.

Kevin Murphy Easy Rider Anti-Frizz Créme, €24

I bought this online after trying a sample and I was hooked. It’s now one of my favourite products when battling frizz. The product is water soluble – so unlike a lot of creams, it doesn’t leave hair greasy – and enhanced with minerals to tame any stray hairs. It can be used in all hair types and textures to tame unruly flyaways or polish curls and natural texture either when hair is damp or to add polish to your ‘do. Use with damp hair for full effect.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil, €12.50

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil is a perfect finishing product. It keeps your locks sleek and shiny and tames any unruly frizz in seconds. You can apply a little to damp hair for extra shine, but a pea-sized amount distributed to the problem areas of your dry hair will keep it under control. This is especially good if you’re dashing to an after-work event and your hair needs calming.

Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It Natural Hair Styler, €31

For the days when you have to dash out the door with still-wet hair and no time for hair dryers, this is the best product I’ve ever used. Polymers and plant-based conditioners enhance texture and body, and the lightweight texture of the cream doesn’t leave hair hard, but extra silky and soft. Simply towel-dry locks, scrunch the product in and leave to air-dry.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Mousse, €7.99

Having curly hair, this is the only mousse I’ve ever been able to use that doesn’t leave my hair looking like straw or an eighties perm and it’s because it’s so light in its formula. It also holds the curl well without drying it out. A little brushed in with a detangler before drying and you’re all set.

Kérastase Nutritive Fondant Magistral Shampoo, €21.50

This shampoo was recommended to me by my hairdresser. It gently cleans without overly drying or weighing down the hair, fighting the frizz before you’ve even started drying. Locks are smooth, chic and smell gorgeous and you only need to use a small amount per wash, so it will last ages.
