Everything we know so far about Rihanna's first Fenty fragrance.
It’s been a big couple of days for scent and celebrity. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher let us know they like to stink and not wash. Adam Driver starred on, and as, a horse in a new commercial for Burberry Hero cologne, allowing the Internet to unite once again in Adam Driver-based abject horniness. And finally, Rihanna – who owes us nothing having fed us throughout the last 16 months with outfits from date nights with A$AP Rocky, Fenty Skin and body confidence – announced she’s expanding her empire.
Not content with just music industry-overtaking, lingerie industry-shaking and diversity quota-breaking, the singer, designer, and beauty mogul shared that she’s coming for fragrance.
‘#FENTYPARFUM COMING SOON”, she wrote on Instagram along with what we assume is the fragrance campaign imagery. Fenty Beauty also shared the shadow of an amber perfume flacon on social media, saying, “something sensual, confident yet sexxy coming your way very soon…”
It seems like Fenty Parfum is coming imminently and while there are no further details, it’s worth noting that Rihanna famously smells incredible, as shown in this viral 2019 Twitter thread, filled with celebrities gushing about how good she smells. When asked what his favourite smell is in an interview, Lil Nas X says, “Rihanna. She smells like heaven.” Another video shows Cardi B shouting “she smells good!” after speaking to Rihanna at an awards show, Nikkie Tutorials also said “she smells like heaven” when talking about meeting her in a YouTube video, Ryan Seacrest said she was the best smelling celebrity at the Grammys, Nick Jonas told The Sun in 2016 that “she smells amazing, that is one thing I can tell you. Everyone says it but I have actually smelt her now and it’s amazing.” The thread continues on and on, with everyone from Jennifer Lawrence to Nigella Lawson to Matt Cardle babbling about just how great Rihanna smells.
Rihanna’s signature scent is believed to be Kilian Love, Don’t Be Shy, according to a video from her friend @StylishGent, which shows Rihanna in the background, none-to-impressed at his disclosure of her signature scent, saying, “I don’t even tell anyone what I wear!”
Fenty Parfum is not her first dip in the world of fragrance – Rihanna’s especially great scent might also be any one of the 11 perfumes she has created with fragrance house Parlux since 2010. Safe to say, expectations are very high for Fenty Parfum.
