How she does it: Carol Byrne’s party-prep beauty tips

Ireland’s glitterati guide to festive glamour.

Want to party like a pro, but feeling a bit low on the wherewithal to get you going and keep you glowing? In the December issue of IMAGE Magazine, on sale now, Melanie Morris checks in with some of Ireland’s most glittering, glamorous gals for tips that will keep you sparkling until the last pine needle drops. Here, Carol Byrne, ambassador at House, shares her tips.

EARLY BIRD OR NIGHT OWL?
I’m most definitely a night owl, and always have been. I’ve worked nights most of my life, so I think my body clock is programmed for that now. I’m currently trying to teach myself to balance things a bit better and realise I shouldn’t feel I have to go to, or do, everything just because I’m invited.

WHAT DOES YOUR FESTIVE SEASON LOOK LIKE?
I love House at Christmas, not just because I work there, but because it’s so picturesque and cosy at this time of year, with beautiful decorations and fires blazing. In terms of partying, contrary to what my Instagram feed looks like, I’m not a massive party girl. I love nothing more than brunch with the girls where we can catch up properly, or a beer in an old man’s pub. And I love doing things with Conor, my son, too. He’s the best company.

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR SKIN LOOKING ITS BEST?
I take my make- up off every night (I usen’t to, but I’ve gotten a lot better) and I use hyaluronic acid products every day.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SALON TREATMENT?
The Hydrafacial in Therapie. I cannot recommend it highly enough – it takes years off.

Image Skincare The Max Stem Cell Facial Cleanser, €37.50

FAVOURITE SKINCARE PRODUCTS?
Image skincare hands down. I use The Max Stem Cell Facial Cleanser, followed by a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C moisturiser.

DO YOU RELY ON A GLAM SQUAD FOR BIG EVENTS?
I only ever get my eye make- up done, as I like to do my foundation myself; Inglot always do a super job. For tan, I swear by St Tropez. Toni & Guy on Clarendon Street do everything for me hair-wise.

WHAT MAKE-UP BRANDS DO YOU LOVE?
I can’t live without SoSu’s lipsticks or lashes – Birthday Suit is a gorgeous shade. I’ll take Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter to the grave – it’s amazing and gives the best glow. And I can’t be without Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer.

HAVE YOU A MAGICAL HANGOVER CURE?
I mastered this years ago! Dioralyte and Solpadeine before bed, and Berocca the next morning!
