Future Icon: Fenty Beauty’s perfect contour shade

Future Icon: Fenty Beauty’s perfect contour shade

Fenty Beauty has recently launched into Boots in Ireland making it even easier to get my hands on my dream contour product. Here’s why I love it so, and why it knocked my previous key players onto the bench…

There are many reasons Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty skyrocketed in popularity upon launch where other celeb make-up lines might not quite have landed. It’s because they were genuinely different, innovative and easy to use and interpret. Oh, and they look good.

Innovation and style

Her Match Stix selection of shades can be used for any number of things – concealing, highlighting, contour, bronzing and even foundation (although the foundation is tops as well… although my god does it oxidise!). She (and the no doubt massive team she employs on the brand) came up with a simple solution for make-up that was missing. She said of the Match Stix idea:

“I wanted to create a product that would be flexible, to give you your concealer, your contour and your highlight. Match Stix lets you choose your best matches, and best of all, they’re magnetic, so they click together and are easy to find in your bag.”

And that they are, Ri-Ri, that they are. But within the range, I’ve found a holy grail product that I rave about to anyone willing to listen.

The contour dream

The Match Stix shade Amber is my one and only contour product. All others have been shoved to the side like unwanted vegetables on a dinner plate. There are lots of reasons I love it.

  • It’s the ideal shade of brown. Not too warm, not too cool, not mucky but not bronze either
  • It’s creamy and so will easily blend into any foundation flawlessly
  • You don’t need a separate applicator – I use my fingers to blend it in
  • The twist-up stick seems to last for infinity. I bought mine a year ago and I’m still nowhere near finished
  • I use it as eyeshadow and sometimes brow filler if I’m caught out without either

I’m a bit evangelical about the whole thing to be fair, but credit where it’s due – Rihanna, thanks gal!
