False Eyelashes: Perfect For The Festive Season

When it comes to nailing a beauty look for the festive season, you can afford to go bigger and bolder for the time of year?that it is. Whether this means opting for your favourite red lipstick reserved for only special occasions, treating yourself to a new foundation or finally trying out the false eyelashes you always wanted, the point is that you feel good and ready to let your hair down.

LASH SHOW MODEL C305

Beauty trends change seasonally, but a glamorous, lush set of eyelashes is always in style. Fake eyelashes are one of the the best ways to get the look, regardless of what mother nature bestowed upon you. If you’ve yet to venture into this eye-enhancing territory, we’re here to offer you some beginner’s tips on how best to apply them, suggest some?brands we like and also tell you where you can get a set professionally applied, if needs be. – ?

If you’re unsure where to begin, it’s always a good idea to ask a professional. Many salons will apply a set for you or beauty counters, such as Make Up For Ever will also do this if you buy a set of their lashes. And in what is very good news for fans of the beauty brand (and aptly timed), they have just launched Lash Show –?a new range offering 50 different false lashes to suit each style and make-up look. Each lash is handmade using 100% synthetic material (ultra comfortable to wear, flexible, hygienic and ethically sound) and better still,?the?false lashes are lightweight, comfortable and can be worn daily.

LASH SHOW N202

Their latest range is categorised by level of impact,’so you can choose a more natural look, in which the lashes are lightweight and comfortable to wear (typically suited for single wear), or a more ‘creative’ look (where the lashes are heavier and suitable for multiple uses). They cost €18 each and come with glue.

Here are some other sets we think are the business:

Benefit Scarlet Lash, €14

Benefit’s Starlet Lash are fantastic lashes for anyone looking for a big impact that is just this side of ?are they real???Covering just three-quarters of the eye, these lashes are easy to apply and remove, and are also super reliable – they won’t fall out.

MAC False Lashes, varied styles, €13.50

The choice is yours here; whether you opt for bold and dramatic or long and luscious, you’ll find a style to suit.?After a while, you forget you’re wearing them as they are very comfortable once applied.

No7 False Lash Natural Volume 10, €10.50

As well as being lightweight and durable, these earn a place on our list as they are contact lens friendly – not one lash came loose as I attempted to pop my lenses in or out. These are definitely for the festive season.

And of course, you can apply your lashes at home too.

Top Tips For Applying False Eyelashes At Home:

  • Curves are important -?The more curved the lash band is, the easier the lashes are to apply. And don’t worry if you think you overdid it; it’s actually a lot easier to apply a severely curved false eyelash onto your eyes rather than try to pin down both ends of a lash that is overly’straight. Toggle the strip back and forth between your fingers to encourage a natural curve before sticking them on.

LASH SHOW APPLICATOR

  • Remove Excess Oil -?Oil makes it hard for the adhesive to bond to the lash band, so If you have naturally oily eyelids, blot the excess off with blotting sheets to ensure an easier application.
  • Start Small – Like most things in life, practice makes perfect, and this is doubly true in the case of false lashes. Singular or half-lash strips?are a beginner’s best friend. They’re shorter in width (they only cover the outer half of your eye) so they’ll stick much quicker?than when you’re handling full strip lashes. Don’t forget to use a lash applicator or if all else fails, a tweezers to ensure you get them on exactly; too much fiddling?and you run the risk of some lashes falling off before you’ve even applied them.

Will you be wearing lashes this festive season?
